Welcome To ADAMO
Hi everyone, my name is Sinéad and thank you so much for popping over to my website and checking out my new exciting venture.
What’s In A Name? ADAMO means ‘to fall in love with or find pleasure in’ – I have been a candle lover all of my life and I love filling my home with beautiful jars, ambient lighting and subtle fragrances and aromas. I have always felt that candles have a wonderful ability to add more aesthetic to any space and provide a stylish focal point, whether lit or not. I have always loved receiving candles (and still do) and they are my ‘go-to’ gift when I am visiting family and friends. A candle can symbolise light in the darkness of life and for myself and so many others, this was never so true as during the recent lockdowns.
By December 2020, COVID-19 and the many restrictions had affected all our lives in so many ways. We were about to face into another lockdown and my work life as a photography tutor and co-owner of Dublin Photography School was once again going to be turned upside down.
I needed something to focus on, I needed a new project! And so, on a cold and wintery afternoon, the fire was lit, the box of Celebrations was opened, the classic movie was good to go, the pen and pad came out and the first thoughts and ideas of ADAMO began to take shape and come to life.
The process began when I started making candles as Christmas gifts for my family and friends and when the New Year rolled around, I took the next step and the studying started! After many months of research, reading, experimenting, mastering techniques and testing, testing, testing, ADAMO slowly came to life and the soy candle making process began.
I decided to work with soy wax as it is natural, non-toxic, vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. All of my candles are individually hand poured in small batches in County Carlow and each one is unique in its own way.
What started out as a love of candles, soon became a hobby and now that hobby has become a small business. None of this would have been possible without the support of my loving family, my good friends and my many, many testers!
